“Hatsume” (not her real name) talks about her shame and fear of being judged by her friends for being HIV-positive. “Hatsume” is a young, Japanese American woman.

What does this video tell us about stigma?
Is there ever a right time to disclose your HIV status? Being open and knowledgeable about HIV can help those around you who may be suffering in silence. Hatsume wants the support of her friends but isn’t sure how to ask for it. Showing empathy and understanding to everyone around you is one way to show people like Hatsume that they can share their status with you.
